proboards version 5
As you'll have noticed, this site uses the new version of Proboards! It's very different from V4 and we're all still getting used to it, but it has tons of really cool, useful new features. The best way to get to know them is just to experiment, and consult Proboards' Official Guide if you get stuck - it explains things very well imo. I'll do my best to explain what I can here, but Proboards' help guide is definitely the best port of call.
This is still very much under construction. Let me know if there's anything you want added!
I figured I'd tackle this first as it seems to be the thing that people are having most trouble with. On Proboards V4, enhanced style tags were actually an unofficial 'hack'/add-on, whereas on V5 it's official and built-in. The coding is very slightly different, but it's less clunky and you can do more with it. V4 post templates will not work properly on V5, but it's not at all difficult to convert them to work here. If you need a hand with that, shoot me a PM.
The main difference, really, is that we now use [ div style=";" ] instead of just [ style=; ]. You need a '#' before colour codes (e.g. "#fff" instead of just "fff"), and for image backgrounds, "background:url(...);" has become "background-image:url(...);". [atrb] tags are now obsolete, because you can use [ table style=";" ] etc instead. There are a couple of other very minor changes, but it's something you get the hang of very quickly. All of the basic stuff, such as links and justifying text, can be done using the post formatting buttons above the reply box!
here's a list of properties you can use in templates.
As said above, V4 templates won't work unless you convert them. Luckily, Back to Neverland offers a lot of pre-made V5-friendly templates. I'm not sure if Caution or other resource sites do yet, but if not, it'll be coming soon.
Remember V4's glitchy, unpredictable alias code that let you switch between character accounts without having to log-in/out? On V5, that's built in and it works beautifully~. You'll see a grey rectangle in the lower right corner of your screen. The first icon of the three is 'switch account', and with the click of a button you can switch easily between one character and the next without having to mess about with usernames and passwords.
There are two tabs on the reply page: 'preview' and 'BB code'. You can flick between the two easily, and you can even type on the preview and watch it update live.
You'll find it right at the top, to the right of the navigation bar. Click on it and a list pops up of all the threads you've been involved in, letting you know which have been replied to, when, and by who. No need for thread trackers any more - this does all the memory work for you~
You can now set your character's group/horoscope yourself, without having to wait for an admin to do it. Just go to your character's profile and hit the 'groups' tab, and then 'join group'. It even tells you how many members are in each group, which can be pretty useful.
The best way to get to know the 'edit profile' page is just to click around and explore it. The avatar section has changed but it's pretty simple (please link to your avatars rather than upload them!). The 'personal' tab is pretty similar to V4, but you'll notice that we've added some custom profile fields for your character's information. The settings tab, however, is worth going into.
Notifications is something else that's changed for the better! Now you have the option to be notified either by email or the forum itself (you'll see a little speech bubble over the 'profile' link at the top of the site when you have a notification) whenever something happens. For instance when somebody 'likes' your post, quotes you, when a new member joins, when somebody replies to one of your threads, etc etc. Obviously there are some things that you won't want to be notified for, so it's important to edit those settings to your liking. Edit Profile --> Notifications tab, and then tick/untick the boxes you want. To Notify someone that you replied to a thread you can put in your post @ and their name and it'll be sent to their notifications. It turns out like this COLTON WAKEFIELD
That's all I can think of that's different right now, but tell me what else you want to know~~!

Coding Post Templates

Linked Accounts

Posting

Participated

Groups & Profiles

ENABLE DRAFTS. Super useful. I recommend setting 'yes'! If you accidentally close the window halfway through writing a post, the site will save/remember it and let you get it back. I'm pretty sure everyone's lost a post this way at some point, so it's a saviour. If you have the Lazarus Chrome/Firefox extension, it's pretty much exactly like that.
POSTING DEFAULT. Asks whether you want to have the 'preview' or the 'BB code' editor show first when you reply. If you do a lot of coding I'd recommend setting it to 'BB', or if you usually use the standard post formatting buttons, I'd recommend 'preview'. It's just a matter of personal preference.
POSTING TEMPLATES. You can save your posting templates and have them appear in a drop-down for you to choose from every time you post. It's really, really useful and saves time - you'll never have to copy-paste again~. Press 'create', enter the name you want, then copy-paste the code in the box and click 'save'. You can save the coding you use for posts, plotting replies, games threads, whatever - you can save as many templates as you like, and they'll all be in that handy drop-down any time you need them.
