Valentina and 'Tyler' are really close siblings. Family is pretty much the most important value to the Aguilars, especially after their father, a police officer, was killed violently on the job twelve years ago. Their mother worked her fingers to the bone during their childhood, raising two kids as a widow and building her own small business from the ground so they could have a better, more carefree life growing up in a nice area of Brooklyn than she'd had growing up in Spanish Harlem, Manhattan. There's a really intense loyalty between the three of them and they pretty much see themselves as one ~unit, sort of distrusting of the world at large. 'Tyler' is particularly protective of Valentina.
But that kind of loyalty can become suffocating, and 'Tyler' gradually started feeling like his family was codependent. Valentina still lives with their mother, but a year ago he moved out and started renting an apartment with friends in Lower Manhattan - supposedly because he hated commuting to the university, but really because he really felt like needed to break away and cut ties, start his own life. He keeps trying and trying to persuade Valentina to do the same thing, but she won't even consider it beyond staying with him for a few days here and there.
In terms of personality, the siblings seem really different. Valentina's the ambitious go-getter, whereas 'Tyler' is really chilled out and easygoing. He's probably into music, art or sports. He's got a natural charm, but not a lot of direction in life: he sort of drifts along. I picture him being kind of a dudebro, suuuper keen to use his new independence to live the cliche college lifestyle, but at the same time he's a genuine nice, trustworthy guy. His natural charisma makes him seem like an open book, but the social butterfly act is just a facade. He actually keeps a lot of secrets and is as wary as the rest of his family, he's just more adept at hiding it from other people who know him.
Like I said, he's very protective of Valentina - but he also makes fun of her a hell of a lot because he thinks she takes herself too seriously~~. aaaand to her chagrin, he's also a total cockblock who thinks it's funny to scare off any guys who are interested in her. They'd have a really cute sibling dynamic where they bicker a lot, but look out for each other at the same time. Please take him! Let me know if you want to change any of the details - most of this is flexible. I would prefer Tyler Posey for the PB, but I could be persuaded to somebody else. Just keep in mind that they're Mexican American. It'd be really cool if whoever takes him puts up a request for all his roommates too~
