► | EMMA IRVING While some people are consistently reliving their past and drown in their nostalgia, emma would rather like to forgot it. between the ages of fifteen and twenty, emma was quite the handful. She was reckless, restless and put little thought into anything she did. Emma suffered from middle child syndrome. She lived in the shadows of her two older brothers, both well respected students and loved by all. It was a torment being known as the sister to Thomas and Michael Irving for her entire life. Her young sister, Lydia, was always the spoiled baby of the family. It should of been expected that eventually she’d try to disassociate herself from her family. Emma’s restless energy got her into quite a bit of trouble in high school and college, her grades were below average and she was constantly getting in trouble for this, that or the other. She was arrested once at sixteen for public intoxication and resisting arrest and once more at nineteen for the same thing. Her relationship with her family is strained as they’ll always see her as she was at fifteen to twenty and she’s constantly bombarded with stories about those wild years at every family gathering. She loves her family but dislikes being around them for long periods of time. She prefers to see her siblings individually and loves them a little bit more for giving her five, soon to be six, nieces and nephews. (but she’ll never admit to that.) Thankfully, nearing her last year of university, Emma came to her senses. Whatever caused this change in unknown even to Emma herself. Her restless energy was divided among school work and various hobbies. Even known, at thirty, Emma keeps herself busy. She runs a bookclub, gardens, writes occasional, does yoga, jogs and she is hopelessly devoted to her job as a middle school English teacher. Her goal as a teacher is to keep her students from going down the same reckless path that she did. She’s the only one of her siblings unmarried and has silently accepted the only children she’ll ever have are the one’s that come and go in and out of her classroom each day. Emma is a textbook virgo. Quiet, self-contained, compassionate, practical, scarily patient and clever. Everything she does is done in order and she lives a simple, organized life. Her emotions run deep but she keeps them to herself the majority of the time, resulting in an occasional outburst when the stress of daily life and pestering parents gets to her. Emma is stubborn and has her feet firmly planted in the ground and is unlikely to change for anyone. She likes her down time and can be rather argumentative. Her opinions are strong and she puts more time and attention into her job that anyone should. Emma likes Bob Dylan, knit sweaters, central park, oranges and books. One of her favourite things is a cold beer on a hot day and she hasn’t had long hair since she was fourteen. She walks almost everywhere regardless of the weather. Her favourite book is The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and her favourite movie is Stand By Me. She lives in an apartment in West Village and has a 9 year old male Beagle named Mick and a three year old female tabby named Dylan. Her love interest is Logan Dane. I’m thinking she’ll have a good group of friends, maybe one or two that she’s known for ages but other that are relatively new. She likes people and keeping busy. | |
► | BRADBURY STONE Man child extraordinaire, Bradbury is a a twenty-eight year old photography student at NYU who lies about his age due to his intense embarrassment for being nearly thirty and in a university crawling with young adults who have it more together at nineteen than he probably ever will. He tells everyone he’s twenty four and likes to pretend he’s an independent adult. In fact, he lives in a crappy apartment in Chelsea a few blocks from his parents. He’s in an intense and committed relationship with scrambled eggs and he doesn’t own a single pair of matching socks. As an Aquarius, everything that Bradbury does he does for himself. He’s not exactly selfish, he simply lives his life as he sees fit and he lives for himself. He’s not as independent as he thinks he is but at least he goes to his parents to do his laundry once a week rather than once a month like some of his friends. He’s incredibly friendly and open, much like a golden retriever. He’s willing to befriend anyone and talks to strangers as if they’ve already met. He lives an honest life. His morals are set and, despite lying about various parts of his life, he’s honest in his opinions. Bradbury has a hard time saying no to people, he likes to be pleased and he also likes to please. He’s disorganized and a little lazy. Bradbury does what he wants but always keeps other people in mind. He’s a little eccentric and loves to talk. Bradbury is obsessed with the macabre, horror movies, unsolved mysteries and conspiracy theories. When he does read, he reads cheap paperbacks and biographies on various serial killers. He loves coffee table books and staying up until three am watching bad movies. His parents are ex-hippies. His mother is now a museum curator and his father works at a morgue. When he was seven, he snuck into the autopsy room and saw a dead body. Sometimes he still has bad dreams about it. He has one younger sister, Theta (who i plan to request), she’s in her early twenties and just as weird as the rest of her family. He was born and raised in The Bronx and sometimes he still gets lost in the neighbourhood he grew up in. He’s incredibly passionate about photography and, like a proper hipster, takes a camera with him everywhere he goes. His apartment is covered in unprocessed negatives and various photographs he’s taken that he’s immensely proud of. Also, in hipster fashion, he works at Starbucks. He’s still not sure what he thinks of it. He likes to brag about how tall he is, he’s almost six foot four and he likes having short friends. |
► | MARY HAWTHORNE Mary, Mary, quite contrary, How does your garden grow? With silver bells, and cockle shells, And pretty maids all in a row. First and foremost, Mary hates her name. It is simple and boring and common. Mary believes she is a grand girl destined for grand things...but, she believes, when her name is flashing in lights in Times Square that MARY HAWTHORNE would look rather nice. Although, some days she proclaims that she'll change her name to something like Delilah Hart or Scarlet Hawthorne. Mary is a fickle girl, like most girls her age her mind can never stay committed to any one thing for long. One thing that Mary is always set on, however, is being famous. Since she was a weird tyke all Mary has dreamed of is being a star and she doesn't care how she gets there. When her father took a job at NYU and she found out that she'd be moving to the city of dreams she was over the moon with excitement. After seeing her first Broadway play it was set in her mind that she would become an actress and, since age thirteen, that dream has stuck. Mary is a very confident young girl. She knows very well when she's good at something. She's not afraid to put herself out there, to try new things or go new places. She has an adventurous heart, his father tells her, and she knows it's true. He blames it on her intense love of Indiana Jones, whom she is still deeply in love with. Mary is incredibly optimistic and only sees good in her future and the future of others. This trait may be a blessing at times but it makes her blind to important aspects of her life. She is always sure things will turn out alright, she is always sure friendships will be mended and mistakes will be forgotten. Like many seventeen year olds, she is naïve to the horrors of the world and has spent many nights crying on her mothers shoulder unable to understand why she's gone and lost another friend or why she failed that math exam. Mary is relatively selfish. She does have a good heart, truly she does but her ID runs her mind and most decisions are made with her desires in mind. Sometimes her superego gets to her and she promises to make things right, to make things better but come morning light, she's been distracted by another friend, another party, another boy and all her promises are forgotten. Mary tries to be a better person, truly she does, but that doesn't mean she'll succeed. Mary also has a problem with not thinking before she acts, she can be careless and go on her merry way if all is well. She avoids anything negative or deeply emotional like the plague. As such she refuses to talk about the details of her future and very rarely divulges her true feelings to anyone. She hates being dragged down by heavy emotions and comes off as shallow, which in truth, she is. The Hawthorne family is stereotypical white picket fence. Her parents are both practical and loving people, with good jobs, good educations, polished English accents and more sense than most people. Each of their children proves difficult but each of their children is full of love. The Hawthorne family, despite their bickering, is very close. Mary rarely admits to how much she love spending time with her family. Her younger sister is her best friend and she looks up to her older brother. Mary commits the seven deadly sins on a daily basis. Her idol is Dita Von Teese and her favourite movie is Chicago. She can dance, act, sing and she makes a mean cheesecake. Her dream roles are Roxie Hart and Christine in Phantom of the Opera. Mary is Pro-Cat and has a gray Himalayan named Judy. |
