Isabella wasn’t sure why she reached out to stop him; she had after all come to the library to be alone. But there was something in her mind telling her to trust him. As he wiped her tears away she leaned into his touch a little. ”I know I said before I wanted to be alone, but you’re right. That’s probably the last thing I need. I’m glad you’re not getting expelled. That’s the best news I’ve heard in this whole mess.” She smiled weakly. She leaned into him when he pulled her close. ”I don’t trust easily, you know. I’ve been through too much to even begin to trust someone. And now…” She stopped and bit her lip. She wasn’t sure how to continue. She had been so betrayed by everyone her entire life, and she didn’t know how to trust, especially after this last betrayal.

When he brought her wrists up to look at them, she lowered her eyes to the ground. She couldn’t bring herself to make eye contact with him. She wasn’t proud of what she had done and hated attention being brought to it. ”I did it because it was the only thing that seemed to make sense, Bryce. I ruined everything here and after being told it would be a good idea your entire life…well..”She trailed off and shrugged keeping her eyes focused downward. When he lifted his sleeves to reveal his scars her mouth opened a little and her deep blue eyes widened. She looked up into his eyes realizing how much they really did have in common.

As he explained that he would never hurt her she found herself starting to believe him and trust him a bit, and it scared her. She knew it was ridiculous to be scared of something like that, but everyone she had ever trusted had either hurt her or died. She was so torn about what to do, but she didn’t want to tell him. There was a reason she kept her past hidden. Not even Nick or Zelda knew what she had been through entirely. There was something about Bryce that made her want to tell him everything, and that alone scared her. She bit her bottom lip and said ”Thank you, Bryce. That really does mean a lot to me.” At the mention of her accent she laughed softly. ”I like yours too.” She sat back down at the table and closed her math book. ”Can we not think about homework right now? My mind is anywhere but.”
